The Location:
Close to Albertville, home of the Olympic Games of 1992, in the Savoie, is Areches-Beaufort. In the "Beaufortain" area (between the Parc National Vanoise and Mont Blanc) is a small ski resort that is formed by Areches and Beaufort : two villages that have grown into one another. The area also includes the modern, but small ski village Le Planay. Due to the beautiful nature and the adjacent natural park this area is a favourite. In addition, the village is equipped with the so-called "Family-Plus-Montagne" label, meaning that it is one of the most suitable destinations for families with children in France. Areches Beaufort has 50 kms of pisted terrain and 33 trails. There are 15 lifts at Areches Beaufort. The area also has 35 kms of cross-country skiing. Activities:
Of course numerous snow sports are available such as ski, snowboard, cross country skiing and snow shoe excursions. With a fun park and a beautiful boardercross in Areches, there is plenty to do for snowboarders.  The many field trips and cultural excursions are also popular, where the beautiful architecture of churches and monasteries is a feast for the eyes. But there is also white water activities, swimming, mountain hiking, mountain biking, cycling, tree-top adventure courses and rock climbing in the summer.

Food – local specialities:
Regional produce includes various cheeses (Reblochon, Tomme fermiere, Beaufort de Mai...) , sausage, honey and liqueurs and wines ( Chignin, Apremont, Persan). Typical Savoyard dishes are fondue, raclette (melted cheese with potatoes and charcuterie) and tartiflette (a dish with cream, cheese, potatoes and bacon).

Areches Beaufort is a commune of the Savoie department in the Rhone Alpes region. It is located 20 minutes from Albertville, 50 minutes from Chambery, 60 minutes from Grenoble and Annecy and 120 minutes from Lyon.

By car: Direction of Albertville and Villard sur Doron.

By rail: London is 2hrs from Paris by Eurostar. There are regular from Paris to Albertville, Grenoble, direct or via Chambery.

By air: The nearest airport are the Grenoble-Isere international airport and the Lyon Saint Exupery international airport, both approximately 90 minutes away. They both serves low costs flights to the UK.
